Caring for Your Variegated Pothos
May 22, 2024

Variegated Pothos (Epipremnum aureum 'Variegata') cascades with ribbons of green and cream, a living brushstroke trailing across shelves and down bookcases. This forgiving vine is equally at home winding in sunlit corners or climbing moss poles, adding subtle artistry to any space.
Keeping Your Variegated Pothos Radiant
Light: Bright, indirect light brings out the most vibrant marbling. Too little light, and the creamy patches recede to green; too much direct sun, and the leaves may scorch.
Water: Allow the soil to dry out halfway between waterings. Feel for dryness down to your knuckle—root rot is the only grievance of Pothos' easy nature.
Soil: A light, fast-draining potting mix supports trailing vines and quick growth. Amend with perlite if extra airiness is needed.
Pot: Choose a pot with drainage and enough width for wandering stems. Repot every year or two as roots charm their way outward.
Encouraging Your Pothos to Flourish
Wipe each leaf gently with a soft, damp cloth to reveal their painted gloss and remove city dust.
Trim stray vines just above a leaf node to encourage fuller, bushier growth—snip and root the cuttings to multiply your collection.
Rotate the pot every few weeks, letting all sides catch the filtered light and keep the variegation balanced.
Let your variegated pothos trail and climb, weaving soft color through your home—a reminder of simple abundance, adapted beauty, and effortless grace that grows with every new leaf unfurled.
